We Don't Need No Stinking Blue Boxes !

So I had a few errands to run today and a letter to drop off in the mail.
"No problem", I thought, "I'll just drop it off at a blue box on my way."
I went by three locations that used to have mail boxes and they are all gone! dun, Dun, DUN !
Is there a huge theft problem going on that the local news affiliates have not let us in on due to a secret investigation or possibly because they are too busy reporting on the ATM machine thefts?
Are there idiot redneck thieves out there that are mistakingly stealing the blue mail boxes thinking they are full of cash, like the ATMs?
Or has the U.S. Postal Service decided to make us go directly to the post office to drop off our mail in retaliation for paying most of our bills on-line now?
And don't believe this website, it shows the locations I'm talking about as still having boxes there.

Dear Constant Reader,
Thank you for continuing to check on me even though I have not posted since December. Your everlasting commitment to my well being makes me proud.
I have been asked by a few of you, why I no longer blog. I will be honest when I say that I simply drifted astray, life got in the way, but no more, I say.
My charge to you, Constant Reader, is to continue my blogging and apologize for my long absence.
In the days and weeks ahead, I will try to catch you up on our past doings . . . or not.
You can, however, rest assured that what you love so well, my opinions, will return.
