Pass The Muenster

This past weekend we drove up to Muenster for the 32nd annual Germanfest.
We met up with a friend of mine who is half German and has two kids about the same age as ours.

Our anticipation was high, and after the two hour drive, we found Germanfest to be nothing more than a hangout for locals and bikers.

They did have carnival rides for the kids and a playground and magic show. The kids had a fun time, I think. Muenster is a quaint little town of German descent and the food is alright, but how can you have a Germanfest without German beer?

Imagine our disappointment as we roll up to the beer trailer and learn that the closest thing to German beer they had was Widmer Hefeweizen (from Oregon), and that was completely sold out. The only other choices were Bud, Coors, Miller and Shiner (a Texas beer).

There were a couple of craft booths and a stage with live music and under a tent they played authentic German music known as oom-pah.

All in all, though, I don't think we'll visit for the 33rd annual event.

And That's What I Think.

Hi, This is the Other Grandmother here. I would like to propose the next time we get together at your place, your mom and Patrick come down as well. And lets see how much of an authentic German Festival we can cook up. Brats, German Potatoes, Red Cabbage, the works. How about a German Chocolate cake complete with the icing....oh god, Im packing a bag now.
