More Saturday Fun

We met up with our friends this morning for a full day of fun and adventure. We all headed over to the local train station in Hurst for a ride to downtown Dallas. The kids were THRILLED to ride a
train for the 30 minutes it took to get downtown.


Once we were downtown, we headed over to the convention center for the annual GATS (Great American Truck Show). We always enjoy checking out the "big" trucks and getting all the give-aways they have. This year besides the Pride and Polish and free concerts they always have, Chrome Shop Mafia from CMT's "Trick My Truck" was there. We didn't see the actual guys from the show, but they brought several of their trucks that were "tricked" and a couple of the people who own the trucks. They also had a huge trailer full of merchandise, they are really cashing in on their success. Also this year they had an ice cream social for the drivers and their families. All in all it was lots of fun.

After that it was time to ride the train back to Hurst to get our car. From there we all headed over to Ft. Worth to my second favorite restaurant which is Edelweiss German Restaurant. I have been there many times and the food is always phenomenal. They have an extensive beer list and live music to boot! This was my friend, James', first time to eat here and agreed that it was truly great German food.
